What happens in the Troll 2 trailer?

It’s a monster mash in the trailer for Troll 2. Ine Marie Wilmann returns as Professor Nora Tidemann, who is recruited by Andreas Isakse (Kim Falck) to investigate a new troll. Dubbed “Megatroll,” this gigantic creature is in captivity, but not for long. Megatroll escapes and wreaks havoc on the surrounding areas, including a party inside a ski lodge.

With a new troll on the loose, Nora calls in an old friend: army major Kristoffer Holm (Mads Pettersen). Even with Kristoffer on her side, Nora knows that humans cannot defeat Megatroll alone. Instead, she must free another troll in this showdown of titans. The trailer’s final moments tease the violent showdown between the two trolls.

Additional cast members include Sara Khorami as government official Marion Auryn Rhadani and Anne Krigsvoll as historian Esther Johanne Tiller.

Roar Uthaug, who helmed Troll, returns to direct Troll 2 from a screenplay by Espen Aukan. Producers include Espen Horn and Kristian Strand Sinkerud.

Troll 2 arrives three years after Troll first streamed on Netflix. The movie is based on Norwegian folklore. The monster movie became a streaming sensation and remains the most popular non-English language film on Netflix. Troll garnered 103 million views, which is roughly 700,000 more than the No. 2 film on the list, Under Paris.

Troll 2 streams on Netflix on December 1, 2025.
