Netflix will soon add Timothée Chalamet’s Wonka to stream

Netflix is set to add Wonka, the musical fantasy film starring Timothée Chalamet, to its streaming lineup on November 1, 2025, as reported by What’s on Netflix. Directed by Paul King, the film offers a glimpse into the early life of Willy Wonka before the events of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Wonka follows a young and ambitious chocolatier determined to make his mark in the confectionery world. However, with little money, Wonka soon faces hardship after being deceived by powerful figures in the city. He later joins forces with Noodle and a group of outcasts to fight back and build a business in chocolate industry.

Along with Chalamet, the film features Calah Lane as Noodle, Paterson Joseph as Arthur Slugworth, Matt Lucas as Gerald Prodnose, and Mathew Baynton as Felix Fickelgruber, among others. The film received widespread critical acclaim, holding an 82% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 333 reviews.

Writing for RogerEbert.com, critic Matt Zoller Seitz called the film “a breezy two-hour musical comedy.” He wrote, “Inspired by Roald Dahl’s Wonka books but not beholden to them, the film hopes to make the audience shed a sentimental tear or two, but is mainly content to amuse, delight, and inspire cheers when the bad guys are defeated.” Seitz also praised Chalamet for his “elegantly withholding” portrayal of the young chocolatier.

Upon its theatrical release on December 15, 2023, Wonka became a major box office success. It grossed $634.5 million worldwide, including $218.4 million from the U.S. and Canada (via Box Office Mojo).
