After releasing the first teaser of The Odyssey in the theatrical screenings of Jurassic World Rebirth, it seems like Universal Pictures has finally set a target release date for the long-awaited The Odyssey trailer. Christopher Nolan‘s next epic drama is still scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 17, 2026.

When is the potential release date for The Odyssey trailer?

According to World of Reel, the studio is reportedly planning to release The Odyssey trailer ahead of Avatar: Fire and Ash’s theatrical debut on December 19. This comes after it was recently reported that Universal Pictures spent around $250 million for Nolan’s next star-studded movie, making it the acclaimed filmmaker’s most expensive film to date.

Described as a mythic action epic, the film is written and directed by Nolan based on the Greek poet Homer’s classic poem of the same name. This project marks the Oscar-winning filmmaker’s latest collaboration with Universal Pictures following the commercial and critical success of Cillian Murphy’s Oppenheimer biopic. The film is produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas.

The movie will be led by Matt Damon, who has been enlisted for the leading role of Greek hero Odysseus. In Homer’s original story, the character is introduced as the “king of Ithaca, who heads back home after the Trojan War. Presumed dead, Odysseus’ wife Penelope and son Telemachus contend with various suitors who compete for Penelope’s hand in Odysseus’ absence.”
