Daniel Radcliffe Musical Movie Merrily We Roll Along Gets Trailer
Sony Pictures Classics has shared the official trailer for Merrily We Roll Along, the upcoming live filmed version of the award-winning Broadway musical. In collaboration with Fathom Entertainment, the movie will be arriving in theaters on December 5, 2025.
“Spanning three decades, Merrily We Roll Along charts the turbulent relationship between composer Franklin Shepard and his two lifelong friends — writer Mary and lyricist & playwright Charley,” reads the official synopsis. “Originally produced on Broadway in 1981, then becoming an inventive cult-classic ahead of its time, the musical features some of Stephen Sondheim’s most celebrated and personal songs.”

What happens in the Merrily We Roll Along trailer?
The video offers the audience a first look at the incredible performances of lead stars Daniel Radcliffe, Jonathan Groff, and Lindsay Mendez. For his portrayal Charley Kringas, the Harry Potter star won his first Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. Meanwhile, Groff’s portrayal of Franklin Shepard won him a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical.
Maria Friedman directed the 2023-2024 Broadway production of Merrily We Roll Along, which redefined the show for a new era, bringing Stephen Sondheim’s intricate score and George Furth’s book to vivid life with extraordinary depth and clarity. The ensemble cast also includes Krystal Joy Brown, Katie Rose Clark, and Reg Rogers. It also won the prestigious Tony Award and Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival.
It is produced by Sonia Friedman, David Babani, Patrick Catullo, F. Richard Pappas, RadicalMedia’s Jon Kamen, and Dave Sirulnick, with Meredith Bennett, No Guarantees Productions, Scott Abrams, Jonathan Corr, Mary Maggio, Jeff Romley, Tony Yurgaitis, Andrew Cohen, Amanda Lipitz, Henry Tisch, and Stephanie P. McClelland. At the moment, Richard Linklater is directing a 20-year-long production of the Merrily We Roll Along movie, which started in 2019. The film adaptation will be led by Paul Mescal, Ben Platt, and Beanie Feldstein.
