The VelociPastor 2 Trailer Shows Dinosaur Priest Going After a Sex Maniac Killer
The VelociPastor 2 has officially unleashed its first trailer, promising another round of blood-soaked absurdity and divine vengeance. Following the viral success of the 2019 cult hit, this sequel looks even wilder, featuring sex maniacs, Soviet spies, and a fertility festival that only VelociVision could handle.
Doug returns in The VelociPastor 2 trailer to catch a sex maniac killer
The much-anticipated trailer for The VelociPastor 2 debuted at New York Comic Con. The sequel follows Pastor Doug (Gregory James Cohan) and Carol (Alyssa Kempinski) as they head to Milan to solve a string of murders committed by a “Sex Maniac Killer” during an Italian Fertility Festival. Furthermore, Soviet spies and INTERPOL are also thrown into the mix.
Directed by Jesse Gouldsbury and co-written with VelociPastor creator Brendan Steere, the sequel keeps the same irreverent energy that made the original a cult favorite. “Doug and Carol travel to the port city of Milan, where they have to solve a series of murders committed by a Sex Maniac Killer at an Italian Fertility Festival. And Soviet Spies. INTERPOL’s there, too,” reads the film’s official logline.
The main cast list of The VelociPastor includes Gregory James Cohan, Alyssa Kempinski, Frankie Kevich, John DiMino, Sajda White, John Collin Barclay, Lily Talevski, Shahaub Roudbari, Dr. Dan Steere, and Jake Cannavale.
After raising funds through a successful 2022 crowdfunding campaign, The VelociPastor 2 became one of the few independent films approved to shoot during the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. The creative team that got dubbed a “group of renegade filmmakers” reportedly worked through post-production “locked in a basement” until the film was finally ready for its big reveal.
Originally made on a $35,000 budget, the first VelociPastor became an overnight sensation when it hit streaming platforms in 2019. The bizarre story of a priest who turns into a dinosaur to fight crime earned millions of views and widespread online buzz. It trended repeatedly on Amazon Prime Video and found fans in unexpected corners of the internet, with some even tattooing the film’s logo.
Now, The VelociPastor 2 looks to expand the franchise’s cult legacy. It will soon hit select theaters as part of its Roadshow Tour before heading to streaming platforms.
