The Mandalorian and Grogu Actor Shares Star Wars Movie’s Current Status
Jeremy Allen White recently confirmed that he’s voicing Rotta the Hutt, son of Jabba the Hutt, in the upcoming film Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. However, he may have more work to do before the movie hits theaters.
Jeremy Allen White might have more voicework left to do for The Mandalorian and Grogu
Jeremy Allen White told Good Morning America that he’s lending his voice to the character of Rotta the Hutt. The character is briefly seen in the teaser for The Mandalorian and Grogu. Allen White described the project as a “fun process” but admitted that the work might not be over yet.
“I came in to do the voice. They hadn’t filmed the movie yet. Then they made the movie, I came and did more,” White explained. “I’ll probably have to do a little bit more. I spoke to Pedro [Pascal] the other day, and I think he was doing some more work, and seeing more of the film.”
White also recalled how director Jon Favreau approached him for the role. “I met Jon Favreau, and I’ve been such a huge fan of his for a long time,” he shared. “He said would you like to come in and maybe talk to me about doing just a voice over for Star Wars. I said, ‘I love Star Wars.’”
Soon after, Allen White realized who he is voicing, “I discovered kind of in the moment almost the weight of the kind of character I was voicing.”
Rotta the Hutt first appeared in the 2008 Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie, where a young Ahsoka Tano helped ensure his safety. His fate remained unknown for years, making his return in The Mandalorian and Grogu a big moment for fans. The teaser for The Mandalorian and Grogu hints at a very different Hutt and fans will get to see it on May 22, 2026.
