Greta Gerwig’s Narnia Movie Cast Grows, Reveals Addition to Book

Greta Gerwig‘s Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew cast has grown, with the new cast also revealing some potential expansion of the book that the film is based on.

Who has joined the upcoming Narnia movie’s cast?

According to a new report from What’s On Netflix, Avar Jager is set to join the film. The relative newcomer will play the role of one of Polly’s (Beatrice Campbell) sister, with her role as of now specifically noted as “Polly’s sister 3.”

What’s interesting about the casting, though, is that Polly’s sisters are not explicitly referred to in C.S. Lewis’ original 1955 novel. While the novel does make reference to Polly’s family, the report mentions that the movie is likely expanding out from the book a bit, even if the sisters roles “will be a small part” of the movie.

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew will be directed by Greta Gerwig from a screenplay she wrote. So far, the acclaimed filmmaker has assembled a star-studded cast consisting of Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig, Carey Mulligan, and Meryl Streep as the voice of Aslan. This marks Mackey and Streep’s latest collaboration with Gerwig after previously working together on Barbie and Little Women, respectively. The adaptation is produced by Amy Pascal, Mark Gordon, and Vincent Sieber.

The original Narnia franchise has taken in nearly $1.6 billion worldwide with three feature films: 2005’s The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, 2008’s Prince Caspian, and 2010’s The Voyager of the Dawn Treader. The original starred William Mosely, Anna Popplewell, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Liam Neeson, Tilda Swinton, James McAvoy, Ben Barnes, Peter Dinklage, and Will Poulter.

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew is set to release on November 26, 2026. A theatrical release ahead of the film’s arrival on Netflix is planned.
