Blade Star Says ‘It’s for the Best’ MCU Movie Has Been Delayed

Mia Goth has commented on whether or not she’s still attached to the MCU Blade movie.

Marvel Studios’ Blade movie has had trouble getting off the ground. The project was originally announced by Kevin Feige at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2019, at which point it was also revealed that Mahershala Ali would play the titular character. Goth has also been cast in the film; however, it has been delayed numerous times, as several directors have been attached to the project over the years. The 2023 Hollywood strikes also contributed to the delays.

What did Mia Goth say about the Blade movie?

Speaking with Elle Magazine, Goth, who is now starring in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein movie, confirmed that she’s still attached to star in Marvel’s Blade movie at this time. She is believed to be playing Lilith, a villain who “tries to take the blood from Blade’s daughter,” via Deadline.

Goth didn’t have an update on the current pre-production status of Blade or if it’ll begin filming at any point in the near future. She did, however, say that the delays might actually wind up being beneficial.

“It’s for the best that it’s taken the time that it has,” Goth said. “They want to do it right.”

Goth has made similar comments before about Blade. She said in 2024 that the people working on the movie “really care, they do. They want to make a great movie. That’s the sense that I get from them, and that feels good.”

Despite this, Blade still does not have a release date at this time. Most recently, the film had a November 2025 release date, though it was removed from Marvel’s release date calendar entirely in October 2024.

It is worth noting that a version of Blade did recently appear in the animated Marvel Zombies series; however, this is a variant who is combined with Moon Knight, and he was voiced by Todd Williams rather than Ali.
