Edge of Tomorrow: New Trailer for Anime Adaptation of Tom Cruise Movie Released

A new trailer for the Edge of Tomorrow anime movie, All You Need Is Kill, has been released.

All You Need Is Kill is a new movie from Warner Bros. Japan that arrives next year. The film is based on the light novel written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and illustrated by Yoshitoshi Abe that was published in 2004 in Japan. The 2014 Edge of Tomorrow film, which is directed by Doug Liman and stars Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, is based on that novel.

What do we know about the Edge of Tomorrow anime movie?

The synopsis for the film (translated from Japanese) reads, “After invasion by unknown creature, Rita finds herself trapped in a time loop. Every time she dies, she wakes up again on the same morning. Determined to fight, she grows stronger with each loop – but the weight of endless death wears her down. Then she meets Keiji, who says, ‘When you die, I return, too…’ Together, they begin to carve out a new future. ‘Escape it!?’ ‘We have to give it a try!’ But what awaits them is a cruel fate, they must choose the one who will survive…An action-fantasy sci-fi spectacle brought to life with Studio 4°C’s stunning, dynamic visuals!”

All You Need Is Kill is directed by Kenichiro Akimoto and co-directed by Yukinori Nakamura, while the screenplay comes from Yuichiro Kido. The voice cast includes Ai Mikami as Rita, Natsuki Hanae as Keiji, Kana Hanazawa as Shasta, and Hiccorohee as Raychell.

According to CrunchyRoll, after having recently held its United States premiere at New York Comic Con last week, All You Need Is Kill will screen in ten theaters across Japan on January 9, 2026.

A global release date for the film has not yet been announced by Warner Bros. Pictures.
