Wind River 2 Star Hints Why Movie Doesn’t Have a Release Date Yet

Jason Clarke has shared an update regarding the release date of Wind River 2. The first Wind River film, directed by Taylor Sheridan, was originally released in 2017, and its sequel was greenlit by Castle Rock Entertainment in November 2022. According to an announcement by Castle Rock director Kari Skogland was brought on board to direct Wind River 2.

Wind River 2 release date gets update from Jason Clarke

Jason Clarke has recently shared an update regarding the release date for Wind River 2, also known as Wind River: The Next Chapter. Clarke sat down with Screen Rant and shared that the movie is facing some legal difficulties.

He stated, “It’s been locked up with the legalities, but now it’s about to come out soon. It’s going to surprise you, and it’s a lot more beautiful. It’s a lot more cinematic. That was when I saw it about a year and a half ago.”

Clarke also showered the movie with praise and said, “It’s extraordinary. It’s set within the Native community. Martin Sensmeier is the lead in that. It’s got an insane cast. It’s a beautiful movie.”

In January 2025, actress Kali Reis, who is also a part of Wind River 2, was asked about when the movie might be released and replied, “You know just as much as I do, unfortunately. I am really excited about Wind River 2, as well. So just keep your eye out for it, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.”

The first Wind River movie, which came out in 2017, starred Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen in the lead roles. The film was critically acclaimed. On Rotten Tomatoes, Wind River recieved a score of 87 percent on the Tomatometer, and on the Popcornmeter, it received a score of 90 percent.
