Keanu Reeves‘ Shadow the Hedgehog movie might happen after Sonic 4, based on new information that was shared on social media. However, the movie has not been officially confirmed yet. Reeves voiced the fan-favorite character in the 2024 movie Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The threequel film proved to be a huge blockbuster and made around $492 million at the box office.
New evidence could be good news for a Shadow the Hedgehog movie
According to a post made by the user named Sonic City on X (formerly Twitter), it seems that the Shadow the Hedgehog movie featuring Keanu Reeves might happen after Sonic 4.
In the post, Sonic City stated, “SEGA has recently filed a new trademark for Shadow the Hedgehog. It’s currently unclear which project it’s tied to, but we’ll likely find out soon.” Although producers for the movies have not provided any confirmation regarding a Shadow the Hedgehog film, fans have expressed their wish to see Reeves return to voice Shadow in the future.
Paramount is currently working on Sonic the Hedgehog 4, which is expected to come out in 2027.
Reeves’ voice acting for Shadow was well-received by fans. While speaking with Screen Rant in November 2024, the actor shared how he prepared for the role. He said that portraying Shadow was like an “internal journey” to channel the right “anger” and “emotion.” He described it as “intense” and added that it was “on another level.”
Sonic 3 director Jeff Fowler also shared his thoughts on Reeves as Shadow in a previous interview. He stated, “It’s so awesome that we got Keanu Reeves to voice the character, and he was so fantastic to work with.” Fowler added that Reeves found the character to be “awesome.” He also stated that Reeves “understood what we were going for, and he was very excited to do his version of it.”
