Star Wars Vets’ Acclaimed Netflix Movie Train Dreams Gets New Trailer

Netflix has shared a brand new trailer for Train Dreams, the upcoming drama starring Golden Globe nominee Joel Edgerton (Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith) and Academy Award nominee Felicity Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). The movie is slated to arrive in select U.S. theaters on November 7, followed by its streaming debut on November 21.

“The film is the moving portrait of Robert Grainier, a logger and railroad worker who leads a life of unexpected depth and beauty in the rapidly-changing America of the early 20th Century,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the Train Dreams trailer?

The video introduces Edgerton and Jones as husband and wife Robert and Gladys Grainier. It highlights Robert’s struggles in trying to find his purpose in a changing world. The trailer also shows off the positive reviews that the movie has received following its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Before its theatrical release, it had already garnered a Tomatometer rating of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 47 reviews.

Train Dreams is directed by Clint Bentley, who co-wrote the screenplay with Greg Kwedar, based on Denis Johnson’s 2011 novella of the same name. The cast also includes Nathaniel Arcand as Ignatius Jack, Clifton Collins Jr., John Diehl as Billy, Paul Schneider as Apostle Frank, Kerry Condon as Claire, and William H. Macy as Arn Peeples, with Will Patton set as the narrator. It is executive produced by Edgerton, Scott Hinckley, Kwedar, and John Friedberg, with Marissa McMahon, Teddy Schwarzman, William Janowitz, Ashley Schlaifer, and Michael Heimler producing.
