George Clooney Gives Major Ocean’s 14 Update, Reveals Returning Cast
George Clooney shared a major update on the status of Ocean’s 14.
While promoting Jay Kelly at the New York Film Festival, Clooney spoke to E! News about the next Ocean’s installment. Clooney confirmed that the movie is happening and even shared an estimated start date.
What was George Clooney’s Ocean’s 14 update?
“We just got the budget approved at Warner Brothers, and we’re trying to set up,” Clooney said. “It’s just scheduling, so it’s just setting a start date for us. Probably start in about nine or ten months, shooting.”
Clooney later spoke about his eagerness to reunite with some of his famous A-list costars, including Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts.
“Yeah, Brad [Pitt], Matt [Damon], Don [Cheadle], and Julia [Roberts],” Clooney added when asked about his excitement for working with the cast again. “I had dinner last night with Julia. They’re all still really dear friends. And so, the chance to work together would be fun.”
Ocean’s 14 has been rumored for several years. In December 2023, Clooney revealed to Uproxx that an Ocean’s 14 script had been completed.
“We have a really good script for another Ocean’s now, so we may end up doing another one,” Clooney said. “It’s actually a great script.”
In September 2024, Conclave director Edward Berger was being eyed to direct Ocean’s 14. Berger later revealed that he turned the project down.
In January, The Fall Guy’s David Leitch was in talks to direct Ocean’s 14. In his interview with E! News, Clooney did not reveal who would direct Ocean’s 14.
Clooney first starred as Danny Ocean in Ocean’s Eleven, the star-studded heist comedy from director Steven Soderbergh. The movie received critical acclaim and was a financial hit, leading to two sequels: 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve and 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen.
Ocean’s 14 is separate from the Ocean’s prequel starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, which is in development.
