Final Destination 7 Director Found for Horror Movie Sequel to Bloodlines
A director for Final Destination 7 has been found.
The Final Destination franchise officially kicked off at New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Entertainment in 2000 with the James Wong-directed movie. That was followed by five other feature film installments: 2003’s Final Destination 2, 2006’s Final Destination 3, 2009’s The Final Destination, 2011’s Final Destination 5, and, most recently, 2025’s Final Destination Bloodlines.
Following the financial success of Final Destination Bloodlines, a seventh film in the series is now in the works. A release date for Final Destination 7 has not yet been set.
Who is directing Final Destination 7?
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Belgian filmmaker Michiel Blanchart is the top choice to direct Final Destination 7.
“Sources say there is no offer just yet, but Blanchart, who will be making his English-language debut with the feature, bubbled to the top this week after a brief but intense search,” the article states. “…Despite only one feature credit to his name, Blanchart is no neophyte. His short You’re Dead, Hélène (T’es morte, Hélène) was shortlisted in the best live-action short film category at the 2023 Oscars. It told of a man trying to break up with his girlfriend, who happens to be a ghost and not at all happy to be dumped. It’s now set up for an English-language adaptation at Tri-Star with Sam Raimi producing.”
Blanchart’s feature film directorial debut then came in 2024 with a film called Night Call (La nuit se traîne).
Final Destination 7 is being written by Lori Evans Taylor and Gary Busick. Craig Perry, Sheila Hanahan Taylor, Jon Watts, Dianne McGunigle, and Toby Emmerich serve as producers, while Warren Zide serves as an executive producer.
Meanwhile, Final Destination Bloodlines — which grossed approximately $314.6 million worldwide — is now available to watch on the HBO Max streaming service.
