Mark Ruffalo on Why Marvel ‘Got Rid Of’ Him for Avengers: Doomsday

As speculations about the complete cast of Avengers: Doomsday continue to circulate around the internet, Mark Ruffalo has provided a cheeky explanation regarding his omission from the official five-hour-long cast reveal. In a recent interview, the four-time Academy Award nominee addressed his absence from the star-studded lineup of the much-awaited Avengers sequel, hilariously stating that it has to do with his history of inadvertently leaking MCU spoilers.

Mark Ruffalo jokes Marvel ‘got rid of’ him to prevent Avengers: Doomsday spoilers

During Ruffalo’s recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the talk show host questioned the Marvel star about why he wasn’t “in the Avengers trailer.”

While the audience let out a burst of laughter, a smirking Ruffalo replied, “They decided that it was better to get rid of me than for me to tell the end of the next movie.” A laughing Fallon then agreed with the 57-year-old actor, stating, “All right, that makes sense,” before the two proceeded to engage in an ice-dunking challenge.

Notably, Ruffalo has a history of leaking spoilers for unreleased Marvel projects. In July 2017, while promoting Avengers: Infinity War, the actor inadvertently revealed that a multitude of superheroes would meet their demise in the film.

Then, in October 2017, Ruffalo accidentally live-streamed the beginning of Thor: Ragnarok, releasing an estimated 20 minutes of the film’s audio to tuned-in fans one month prior to the movie’s theatrical premiere. A year later, he gave away the official title of Avengers 4, which was, at the time, a well-kept secret. Ruffalo revealed more secret information in April 2019, when he disclosed Captain America’s marriage to Peggy Carter in Avengers: Endgame during an interview.

Fans have yet to see Ruffalo’s Hulk in action following his 2022 appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. While Ruffalo is set to reprise his role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it remains unclear if he’ll appear in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday.
