Horror Movie With 100% RT Score Gets Exciting Sequel Update

Patrick Brice, director of the Creep films, addressed questions about the long-awaited third installment, Creep 3, during Fantastic Fest 2025. He spoke about the franchise’s future, explained the creative pause after Creep 2, and confirmed that a trilogy closer is still in development.

Creep 3 is still in development and not canceled

The Creep franchise creators, Patrick Brice and Mark Duplass, have confirmed that a third film is still in development. Speaking at Fantastic Fest 2025, Brice told The Direct, “We will make a Creep 3. But we want Creep 3 to kind of be a defining, sort of, end of a sentence… Like, it should be something that closes things up.” Duplass confirmed that they still plan the trilogy closer despite the long gap since Creep 2 in 2017.

The franchise began about a decade ago with the original Creep, followed by Creep 2, which has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, in 2017. Both the movies were directed by Brice and featured Duplass as the serial killer known as Peachfuzz. In addition to the films, the story expanded with The Creep Tapes, a television series on Shudder that launched in November 2024 and explored new victims of Peachfuzz. Season 2 of the series will premiere on Shudder and AMC+ on November 14, 2025.

Duplass explained that the success of Creep 2 created hesitation about a follow-up. He said, “Patrick and I were a little paralyzed after we made Creep 2 to make Creep 3. They were so successful. And when I say successful, I mean the core fans loved them so much. We really didn’t want to make anything unless we felt like it could match, or in some ways supersede that.” He also noted that The Creep Tapes gave them creative freedom. “So there’s something about making The Creep Tapes that freed us up a little bit to just be like, ‘Well, we’re not gonna make the double album. We’re gonna make a bunch of weird EPs,’ you know? And that got really fun,” Mark Duplass explained.

Duplass further described the television show format as allowing “more chaos” than the films, saying, “When you’re trying to wrangle something that’s about 30 minutes, it allows you to strike out more daringly, and you can make a lot of different stories, and different types of stories work in that format.”

Notably, Brice and Duplass serve as the creators of The Creep Tapes, with Brice directing and Duplass returning as Peachfuzz.
