Ryan Gosling’s Star Wars: Starfighter Gets Exciting New Photo

Lucasfilm’s highly anticipated Star Wars: Starfighter has received a brand new set photo as production continues on the Ryan Gosling-led action sci-fi movie. It is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 28, 2027.

What does the Star Wars: Starfighter set photo show?

Shared by director Shawn Levy on Instagram, the behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Star Wars: Starfighter features a closer look at Gosling’s lead character. The Academy Award nominee is also joined by his young co-star, Flynn Gray, who previously appeared in shows like Borderline, Wednesday, and Showkids. This marks Gray’s first high-profile movie for a major studio. In the photo, Gosling and Gray can be seen filming in the middle of the sea, teasing one of the movie’s locations. Unlike the first set photo, this new image offers fans a better look at their costumes.

The movie is being directed and produced by Levy from a screenplay written by Jonathan Tropper. Joining Gosling and Gray are Amy Adams, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings. The story will take place five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. According to the studio, “it is an entirely new adventure featuring all-new characters set in a period of time that has not been explored on screen yet.”

“The reality is that this script is just so good. It has such a great story with great and original characters,” Gosling said during the project’s official announcement at the recent Star Wars Celebration panel in Tokyo. “It’s filled with so much heart and adventure, and there just really is not a more perfect filmmaker for this particular story than Shawn.”
