Leonardo DiCaprio’s Heat 2 Involvement Gets Huge Update
A new Heat 2 update suggests that Leonardo DiCaprio’s long-rumored involvement will be much more significant than many believed.
What is the latest Heat 2 update regarding Leonardo DiCaprio?
According to a new report from World of Reel, not only is Heat 2 finally happening, but DiCaprio will be starring in the film. World of Reels’ report notes that the move comes after “weeks of negotiation,” and that DiCaprio might have a busy year, as he could be set to film both Heat 2 and a film with Martin Scorsese next year.
The latest Heat 2 report comes just a month after reports surfaced that Warner Bros. and director Michael Mann seemed to be at odds about the film. The report at the time suggested that Mann had initially come in with a budget of over $200 million, with Warner Bros. hoping to keep the budget lower.
On top of that, the report suggested that Heat 2’s script could be sent to Apple to partner on Mann’s movie. While this report came before DiCaprio’s alleged confirmed involvement, with the star now attached to the project, it could mean that Mann’s budget won’t have to be stripped down too much.
Heat 2 is a 2022 crime novel by Mann and Meg Gardiner. The book is a prequel and sequel to the 1995 movie, Heat. The prequel is set in Chicago in 1988, with Detective Vincent Hanna working to catch a ruthless gangster. Concurrently, Neil McCauley, Chris Shiherlis, and Michael Cerrito are planning their next score.
The book then picks up in 1995, moments after the events of the movie, with Chris on the run from Vincent. The novel then skips ahead to 2000, with Vincent looking for that same Chicago gangster, while Chris works for a powerful Taiwanese-Paraguayan crime family.
