Beloved 2007 Horror Movie Gets 4K Theatrical Rerelease
Legendary Pictures, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Saga Arts have partnered with Fathom Entertainment for the upcoming special screening of the newly restored 4K version of the cult classic horror movie Trick ‘r Treat. Since its debut, the 2007 movie has received a Tomatometer rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Horror fans have long been thirsting for Trick ‘r Treat to take its rightful place back on the big screen and in cinemas nationwide. Fathom is thrilled to bring this classic horror film back in theatres in sparkling 4K with our partners just in time for Halloween,” Fathom executive Tom Lucas said in a statement. “A stellar cast helps make Trick ‘r Treat a frightening cinematic experience fans will not want to miss!”
When is the theatrical rerelease date for Trick ‘r Treat 4K?
For the first time, Trick ‘r Treat will be heading back to theaters in newly restored 4K for a two-night screening on October 14 and October 16. The nationwide rerelease will give fans a chance to relive the frights, the laughs, and the twisted tradition of this cult favorite.
In addition, audiences will also be treated to a new featurette from writer-director Michael Dougherty, in which he discusses his inspiration for the story. Besides the original movie, the 4K restoration of Dougherty’s 1996 short film, Seasons Greetings, will also be released.
“Trick ‘r Treat weaves together sinister stories set on Halloween night: a high school principal, who moonlights as a serial killer; a young virgin’s search for the right man turns horrific; Emma and her husband discover the cost of ignoring holiday rituals; and a cantankerous old man faces Sam in a terrifying showdown. Darkly funny, gruesome, and endlessly rewatchable, the film secures Sam’s place as the true spirit of Halloween,” reads the synopsis.
The movie is written and directed by Michael Dougherty (Krampus, Godzilla: King of the Monsters). The cast included Dylan Baker, Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Leslie Bibb, Rochelle Aytes, Quinn Lord, Lauren Lee Smith, Tahmoh Penikett, Brett Kelly, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, Richard Harmon, Laura Mennell, and more.
