Frozen 3 synopsis reveals what to expect from sequel’s plot
Disney’s official WeChat account in China released the synopsis for Frozen 3. According to the translation of a post by @almanaquedisney on X (formerly Twitter), it states, “In this new chapter, witness the wedding of the century in Arendelle as Queen Anna walks down the aisle and joins Elsa on a new magical journey filled with unknown challenges. And what’s even more exciting: the royal family is about to welcome a mysterious new member!” The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters in November 2027.
Disney confirmed that Jennifer Lee, co-director of Frozen and Frozen 2, will return to lead the project. Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad plan to reprise their roles. The team has not started recording yet.
Josh Gad told Collider that neither he nor the cast has recorded lines or heard new songs. His comments confirmed that production remains in its early stages. The update came alongside a revealed storyline featuring Anna and Kristoff’s wedding and the arrival of a new family member.
The Frozen franchise has followed sisters Anna and Elsa since the first film premiered in 2013. Frozen 2 was released in 2019 and expanded on their family history. The story revealed that their mother, Queen Iduna, was a part of the Northuldra tribe. This connection shaped Elsa’s role as the fifth spirit and guardian of the Enchanted Forest. The new film is expected to continue that theme.
Frozen 3 will release worldwide on November 24, 2027, under Walt Disney Animation Studios. Jennifer Lee returns as director. The film will once again feature music from Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
