Dracula Movie by Taken Director Sets US Release Date
After acquiring Dracula: A Love Tale‘s North American theatrical distribution rights, Vertical has announced the U.S. release date window for the upcoming fantasy-horror romance movie. It hails from Léon: The Professional and Taken director Luc Besson.
“This film is very close to my heart and has been a joy to create over the past two years. At its core, it’s a love story—Dracula seen in a different light, as a man searching for his lost love over 400 years,” Besson said in a statement. “It’s been incredible to see audiences connect with it around the world, and I’m thrilled to partner with Vertical to bring this story to North American audiences.”
Vertical Partner Peter Jarowey added, “Luc is a singular visionary, and his elevated take on the Dracula story is something only he could imagine. We are thrilled to be working with such a major creative entity and are proud to be bringing this film to North American audiences.”
When is the U.S. release date for Dracula: A Love Tale?
Dracula: A Love Tale will officially premiere in U.S. theaters for a wide release in the first quarter of 2026. This comes after the movie’s French theatrical release over a month ago. Since its debut, the gothic horror film has already received a Popcornmeter score of 69% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Based on Bram Stoker’s 1897 gothic novel of the same name, the movie is led by Get Out’s Caleb Landry Jones as he plays the newest iteration of the Prince of Darkness. Joining him are Christoph Waltz as a priest, Matilda De Angelis as Maria, Zoë Bleu as Elisabeta/ Mina, Ewens Abid as Jonathan Harker, Romain Levi as Captain Wernus, and more. The film is written, directed, and produced by French filmmaker Luc Besson. Mark Canton, Dorothy Canton, Ryan Winterstern, and Philippe Corrot are also serving as executive producers.
“The movie follows a 15th-century prince, who denounces God after the devastating loss of his wife. He inherits an eternal curse: he becomes Dracula. Condemned to wander the centuries, he defies fate and death itself, guided by a single hope – to be reunited with his lost love,” reads the official synopsis.
