The Last of Us’ Bella Ramsey Tells Haters to Replay Game Instead of Watching Season 3

The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey addressed the online criticisms that the acclaimed HBO show had received for its second season. Despite maintaining the show’s Certified Fresh score, Season 2 was review-bombed by online trolls who were disappointed by Joel’s brutal death and Ellie’s relationship with Dina. Because of this, the latest installment currently holds a Popcornmeter rating of 31%, which is significantly lower than its Tomatometer rating of 91%.

What did Bella Ramsey say about The Last of Us Season 3?

During a recent interview on The Awardist podcast, when asked about the fan criticisms, Ramsey admitted that they don’t really take the time to read the hate comments about Season 2. However, they advised that the haters should just play the game if they disagree with the creative team’s decision to include some changes to the original story.

“I try to steer clear as much as I [can], to be honest,” Ramsey said. “You don’t have to watch it. If you hate it that much, the game exists. You can just play the game again. If you do want to watch it, hope you enjoy it.”

For the third installment of The Last of US, the story will officially shift its focus to a different protagonist. Golden Globe nominee Kaitlyn Dever’s divisive character, Abby Anderson, will be leading Season 3, after she was introduced as the main antagonist of Season 2. For her incredible performance, she is currently nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series at the upcoming Emmy Awards.

In addition, there will also be a change within its creative team, with co-creator Neil Druckmann and producer/writer Halley Gross exiting the show in order to work on Naughty Dog’s future projects. Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin will remain as Season 3’s sole showrunner.
