Julia Roberts’ After the Hunt Reviews Give Luca Guadagnino His Worst RT Score

Amazon MGM Studios’ latest psychological drama, After the Hunt, has finally received its initial Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Luca Guadagnino‘s Julia Roberts-led movie just had its world premiere at the 2025 Venice International Festival. The R-rated movie is still slated to arrive in theaters in New York and LA on October 10. Afterward, it will have its wide release on October 17.

What is After the Hunt’s Rotten Tomatoes score?

After the Hunt currently holds a Tomatometer rating of 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 16 reviews. Because of this, it is now Guadagnino’s lowest-rated directorial feature, nearly a decade after garnering critical success for his work on 2017’s Call Me By Your Name. At the moment, the Timothee Chalamet-led coming-of-age drama remains the filmmaker’s highest-rated movie with a Certified Fresh rating of 95%. Out of the ten movies that Guadagnino had directed, seven received Certified Fresh scores, including 2022’s Bones and All, 2024’s Challengers, and 2024’s Queer.

After the Hunt is directed by Guadagnino from a screenplay written by Nora Garrett. The ensemble cast also includes Andrew Garfield, Ayo Edebiri, Michael Stuhlbarg, Lío Mehiel, Thaddea Graham, Ariyan Kassam, Will Price, Christine Dye, and Burgess Byrd. It is executive produced by Garrett, Karen Lunder, Justin Wilkes, and Alice Dawson, with Guadagnino, Brian Grazer, and Allan Mandelbaum serving as producers.

“The film is a gripping psychological drama about a college professor who finds herself at a personal and professional crossroads when a star student levels an accusation against one of her colleagues, and a dark secret from her own past threatens to come into the light,” reads the official synopsis.
