Alan Ritchson’s Batman DCU Update Is Good & Bad News for Fans
Reacher star Alan Ritchson has once again opened up about the possibility of playing Batman in the DC Universe. Ritchson is no stranger to the DC franchise, having previously appeared in shows like Smallville and Titans, where he played the respective roles of Arthur Curry/Aquaman and Hank Hall/Hawk.
What did Alan Ritchson say in his Batman DCU update?
Recently, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn revealed that he’s actually a “big Alan Ritchson fan” after fans kept on casting him as the DCU’s Bruce Wayne/Batman. Speaking with Variety, Ritchson shared his reaction to Gunn’s comments, confirming that he already had talks about Batman with the Superman director.
“Well, it’s not rumor that James Gunn is a fan. He said it himself. And am I a fan of James Gunn? Absolutely. I don’t want to mislead people. Words have been exchanged about Batman,” Ritchson said.
However, the Reacher actor admitted that he doesn’t really see himself playing the Dark Knight in the future. Despite this, he believes that he will work again someday with DC, teasing his interest in a different character.
Ritchson added: “But I strongly don’t think that Batman is in my future. I do think there is something in my future with DC. And I would like that to remain true.”
The Brave and the Bold will be directed by The Flash director Andy Muschietti. The movie is part of the DC Universe’s Chapter One: Gods & Monsters. The story will center around Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne, who is known as the Dark Knight’s son with DC villain Talia al Ghul. Damian Wayne is one of the DC characters who takes on the mantle of Robin. Besides Ritchson, It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar is also currently being rumored for the role of Batman.
At the moment, it has no official release date yet.
