Neon has released the first look at Adam Scott in the upcoming horror movie Hokum, as well as shared some light on when the film is set to release.
The film follows the story of a reclusive novelist, Ohm Bauman (Scott), who “retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, but the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Soon, disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past,” according to the film’s logline.
What is the Hokum release date update?
According to Neon in a new report from Deadline, Hokum is set to release in theaters sometime in 2026. The film is written and directed by Damian McCarthy, who also directed the 2024 breakout horror movie Oddity.

Hokum will be produced by Spooky Pictures founders Roy Lee and Steven Schneider, as well as Image Nation’s Derek Dauchy and Tailored Film’s Ruth Treacy, Julianne Forde, and Mairtín de Barra. Ben Ross, Rami Yasin, and Andrew Childs will serve as executive producers.
“Partnering with Steven and Roy has been an incredible journey and it’s been great to see that our collaboration has led to some incredible projects,” said Ross, acting CEO of Image Nation, when the film was originally announced earlier this year. “With Adam’s talent and charisma and Damian’s unique direction, this is another opportunity for us to push boundaries in the horror genre and continue to make our mark in the international market.”
