
Emma Stone Has Her Head Shaved in Bugonia Trailer
Focus Features has shared the official trailer for Bugonia, the upcoming English remake of 2003’s South Korean movie Save the Green Planet!. The sci-fi dark comedy will have its world premiere today at the 2025 Venice International Film Festival. It will then be released in U.S. theaters on October 24.
“Two conspiracy-obsessed young men kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth,” reads the movie’s official synopsis.

Who is in the Bugonia trailer?
The video features Academy Award winner Emma Stone in her fourth collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos. Stone plays Michelle, the CEO who gets abducted by conspiracy theorists who think that she’s an alien. Portrayed by Jesse Plemons and Aidan Delbis, these alien-obsessed men firmly believe that it’s up to them to save humanity from Michelle. Additional cast members include Alicia Silverstone, Stavros Halkias, Vanessa Eng, Marc T. Lewis, Momma Cherri, Cedric Dumornay, Parvinder Shergill, and more.
Bugonia is directed by Lanthimos from a screenplay written by Will Tracy, with Midsommar director Ari Aster serving as a producer. The movie is produced by Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Lanthimos, Stone, Lars Knudsen, Miky Lee, and Jerry Kyoungboum Ko. It is a production by CJ ENM, the company behind Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite.
The original movie was written and directed by Jang Joo-hwan, with acclaimed South Korean actor Shin Ha-kyun (Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance) leading the cast. During its theatrical run, it received positive reviews and numerous recognitions from South Korea’s award-giving bodies, including the Blue Dragon Film Awards and Busan Film Critics Awards. The film also had international premieres at Cannes, Toronto, Hong Kong, and Brussels festivals.
