Avengers: Doomsday Actor on Why Black Panther 2 Was Harder to Film
With as many as 27 Marvel characters confirmed to make an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, Tenoch Huerta, who played the villainous Namor in Black Panther 2, has shed light on the weightage of his role in the upcoming film. In a recent interview, the Mexican actor opened up about his part in the much-awaited Avengers sequel as well as how he got to know about his casting in the movie.
Tenoch Huerta claims Namor’s role will be smaller in Avengers: Doomsday
During his August 24 appearance on TV Azteca‘s late-night show La Resolana Con El Capi, Tenoch Huerta disclosed that he was informed about his involvement in Avengers 5 about hours before the five-hour livestream cast reveal. The Forever Purge star also noted that due to the bloated roster of the movie, fans should not expect too many scenes of his ocean-dwelling superhero.
“We were waiting on the green light [from Marvel] and my agents in the U.S. were not sure about the news [of my return],” Huerta said of his casting in Avengers: Doomsday. “They practically told us around 12 at night, and at 5:30 in the morning, the [cast reveal] livestream started, and they told us, ‘Hey, the news is about to drop.’ It was surprising and it was cool,” he added.
Talking about his second appearance in the MCU, Huerta stated that “the dynamic has been different” this time around. “There are twentysomething characters involved in the story, which means we are each going to have smaller roles because there needs to be space for all the characters and all the universes,” the 44-year-old actor explained. He concluded his account about his part in Avengers: Doomsday by saying, “This makes it a much more simpler role, in terms of time and energy of making a film like this.”
In addition to Huerta’s Namor, Avengers: Doomsday will also feature Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Anthony Mackie’s Captain America, as well as Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, among others. The sequel is currently on track to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
