New Netflix Movie Becomes Most-Watched Film Ever on Streamer

The numbers just keep on “goin’ up, up, up” — and there’s no denying it.

KPop Demon Hunters has just scored another massive record at Netflix, becoming the streamer’s most-watched movie of all time. It has now surpassed the record previously held by the 2021 action comedy, Red Notice.

How much has KPop Demon Hunters been watched?

KPop Demon Hunters has become a surprise hit for Netflix, breaking record after record. This time around, it has earned another significant feat by becoming the most-viewed film in the streaming platform’s history, even besting a movie led by the likes of Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot. According to The Guardian, the animated fantasy feature now boasts over 236 million views.

In addition to its viewership record on Netflix, the animated musical proves to be a force to be reckoned with on both the music and box office fronts, having previously broken records with songs like “Golden,” “Your Idol,” and “Soda Pop.” The fictional K-pop groups have even beaten real-life singers and performers in charts and on the Billboard Top 10, making them chart-topping acts at this point.

Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, KPop Demon Hunters follows Huntr/x, an iconic K-pop girl group made up of members Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo). However, beneath their superstar personas lies a double life: K-pop idols by day, demon hunters by night. A formidable threat emerges when a group of demons rises, disguised as their rival boy group, Saja Boys.

“When K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey aren’t selling out stadiums, they’re using their secret identities as demon hunters to protect their fans from ever-present supernatural danger. Together, they must face their biggest threat — an irresistible rival boy band of demons in disguise,” the synopsis reads.
