William Baldwin Stops the Planet From Freezing in The Asylum’s Ice Storm Trailer | Exclusive

Ice Storm is a new disaster flick from The Asylum, the film production and distribution company that is best known for putting out direct-to-video mockbusters. Directed by Jared Cohn, the movie stars William Baldwin, McKenzie Westmore, and Jack Pearson.

What happens in the Ice Storm trailer?

The Ice Storm trailer sees a deadly winter storm hit North Carolina. Things quickly escalate when the storm becomes so cold that people start freezing to death in moments — and when it threatens to freeze the whole country and, eventually, the planet, it’s up to a team of disaster experts to save the day.

The official synopsis for the movie reads, “When a devastating winter storm slams into North Carolina with the lowest recorded temperatures in history, the whole state starts to freeze over. As temperatures turn even colder, climatologists and disaster relief experts race to save lives and stop the storm before it freezes the entire East Coast.”

This marks the third disaster movie from The Asylum that Baldwin, the second-youngest of the four Baldwin brothers, has appeared in over the past couple of months, the other two being Super Volcano and 20.0 Megaquake, both of which were also directed by Cohn. 

Baldwin’s filmography also includes 1989’s Born on the Fourth of July, 1990’s Internal Affairs, 1990’s Flatliners, 1991’s Backdraft, 1999’s Brotherhood of Murder, 2005’s The Squid and the Whale, 2008’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall, 2010’s Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, and 2019’s Backdraft 2, among other titles.

The script comes from Marc Gottlieb and Bryan Coyne. Ice Storm has an August 22, 2025, release date.
