Superman Saga: James Gunn Reveals How Many DCU Movies Are Planned

James Gunn recently opened up about how long his planned “Superman saga” might be, revealing how many more Superman stories the DCU may have.

What did James Gunn say about the DCU’s Superman saga?

Speaking during an appearance on the recent episode of The Viall Files podcast, Gunn was asked about how he thinks about fleshing out the future of the DCU. While speaking about bringing in other characters into the DCU. In his comments, Gunn let it slip that he has plans for more than just two Superman movies.

“I am like thinking ‘what is the long-term story I’m telling here? What is the story that I’m gonna tell about Superman over four movies?'” Gunn said.

Gunn’s comments shed some light on his plans, and also gives some fans an insight into how much more Superman that can expect right away. Gunn has previously teased that he is working on a project that, while not a direct sequel to 2025’s Superman, is part of what he calls a “Superman saga.”

While most of the Superman saga is unknown, we do know at least two of the movies, already. The first being 2025’s Superman, and the second being the upcoming Supergirl, which releases on June 26, 2026.
