The Wizard of Oz Gets Turned Into Slasher Horror Movie Ahead of Wicked: For Good
The Wizard of Oz is being turned into a horror movie ahead of Wicked: For Good.
Wicked: For Good arrives in United States theaters this coming November. The sequel to 2024’s Wicked is once again directed by Jon M. Chu and will see Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande reprise their respective roles as Elphaba Thropp and Glinda Upland.
Wicked: For Good won’t be Frank L. Baum fans’ only chance to return to Oz in November, however. Per Deadline, a new, low-budget Wizard of Oz horror movie, titled Wicked of Oz, will be released the same month.
What do we know about The Wizard of Oz horror movie?
Wicked of Oz is directed by Aaron Mirtes. Nathan Illsley and Mirtes co-wrote the script, which is based on a screenplay by James Cullen Bressack and Scotty Mullen.
“A freak tornado pulls Dorothy (Kenzie Wynne) into the wicked world of Oz just in time for the down-on-her-luck Kansas farm girl to confront Glinda, a starving cannibal who finds herself all out of Munchkin meat,” a description of the plot reads. “Things go downhill from there, as Dorothy goes head-to-head (literally) against a skull-cracking Scarecrow, a Tin Man whose hobby is to collect still-beating hearts, and a Cowardly Lion who pleases his master by ripping apart anyone he sees. Oz becomes Ooze as Dorothy – armed with scavenged weapons – battles her way through hordes of psychotic enemies until she finally happens upon her ultimate nemesis, the Wicked of Oz.”
