Minecraft 2: Kirsten Dunst Has 2 Great Reasons for Wanting to Star in Sequel
Academy Award nominee Kirsten Dunst has expressed her desire to join the Minecraft 2 cast, following the adventure comedy’s massive commercial success during its theatrical run last April. Dunst is no stranger to blockbuster franchises, as she previously starred as Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire.
Why does Kirsten Dunst want to star in Minecraft 2?
During a recent interview with Town & Country, Dunst explained why she wanted to join the sequel to Warner Bros. Pictures’ A Minecraft Movie, revealing that she would do it for her kids who have fell in love with the first one. Although the studio hasn’t officially announced the sequel, previous reports suggested that the project is now in early development.
In addition, Dunst also admitted that she would also like to make a lot of money, after only starring in small-budget drama movies for a long while now. “Maybe I can just make a movie where I don’t lose money?,” she said.
A Minecraft Movie was directed by Jared Hess, based on Mojang Studios‘ popular video game. The cast included Jason Momoa as The Garbage Man, Jack Black as Steve, Emma Myers as Natalie, Danielle Brooks as Dawn, Sebastian Hansen as Henry, and Rachel House as Malgosha, along with Matt Berry, Kate McKinnon, and Jemaine Clement. During its theatrical run, the movie earned a worldwide gross of over $955 million at the box office against a reported budget of around $150 million. It currently holds a Popcornmeter score of 85% on Rotten Tomatoes.
