Fantastic Four’s Vanessa Kirby on Why Sue Storm Will Drastically Change in Avengers: Doomsday

Vanessa Kirby recently spoke about how Sue Storm’s fate in The Fantastic Four: First Steps will impact her portrayal of the iconic character in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday. Kirby made her MCU debut as the Invisible Woman in First Steps and is slated to appear alongside her fellow Fantastic Four cast members in the upcoming Avengers sequel.

Vanessa Kirby says Sue Storm’s Fantastic Four death will change her in Avengers: Doomsday

While speaking with MovieWeb‘s George Edelman about her latest Netflix movie, Night Always Comes, the BAFTA-winning actress revealed that Avengers 5 will address her MCU character’s death instead of simply moving on from the significant event.

Kirby started off by saying, “I love that I get to continue with Sue because it’s so interesting.” She then added, “I’ve been thinking a lot doing Avengers and stuff about how someone that’s been through, in the space of basically a week, someone who has given birth and has died and come back to life… how a death experience like that would change you.”

The finale of The Fantastic Four: First Steps saw Kirby’s Invisible Woman die after defending Earth from the threat of Galactus. However, in a matter of moments, her son, Franklin, brought Sue Storm back to life, setting up her appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.

Kirby has now said that she has been prepping for her role in Avengers 5 by researching people who have gone through similar experiences. “I’ve been listening to a lot of people that have had those kind of experiences and what they learn, and therefore how different they are after they come back from that,” she noted.

Vanessa Kirby, along with her fellow Fantastic Four cast members, will next be seen in Avengers: Doomsday, which is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026.
