Theatrical and Netflix streaming release dates for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein have been announced.
Frankenstein is a forthcoming science fiction film written and directed by Guillermo del Toro. Based on Mary Shelley’s iconic novel published in 1818, the film stars Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein, Jacob Elordi as Frankenstein’s monster, and more.
What are the theatrical and streaming release dates for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein?
Per The Hollywood Reporter, it has been announced that Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein will receive a limited theatrical release in the United States on October 17, 2027. The movie will then be available to stream on Netflix beginning on November 7, 2027.
Two new posters of Frankenstein have also been unveiled on Twitter and can be viewed below:
A description of the film reads, “Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.”
In addition to Isaac and Elordi, Frankenstein stars Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, David Bradley, Lars Mikkelsen, Christian Convery, Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz. Production on the project began in February 2024 and then wrapped the following September.
Del Toro recently told Netflix Tudum, “The most important figure from English legacy is, incredibly, for me, a teenager by the name of Mary Shelley, and she has remained a figure as important in my life as if she were family. And so many times when I want to give up, when I think about giving up, when people tell me that dreaming of the movies and the stories I dream are impossible, I think of her.”
Before its limited theatrical release, Frankenstein will hold its North American premiere at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival next month.
