Vincent D’Onofrio recently answered whether Marvel is planning a face-off between Kingpin and Spider-Man. Kingpin is one of the most well-known antagonists of Spider-Man as well as Daredevil. With D’Onofrio’s Kingpin now in the MCU with Daredevil: Born Again, fans have been wondering if they will see him crossing paths with the webslinger.
Vincent D’Onofrio on if Spider-Man vs. Kingpin is being planned for MCU
Actor Vincent D’Onofrio was recently asked by a fan whether his Kingpin is going to face off against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU.
Replying to the fan on X (formerly Twitter), D’Onofrio said, “Honestly, i have no idea.” The speculation arose among fans after Alex Perez of The Cosmic Circus stated in his Q&A, “The plan with Kingpin is to have him face off against Spider-Man, which hasn’t changed. And for Brand New Day, It’s possible we could see a mid-credit or post-credit scene that would tease an upcoming bout against them.”
D’Onofrio is next set to appear in the MCU in Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again. However, after Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, became the mayor of NYC, fans have been hoping for Kingpin vs Spider-Man in the MCU, as they both operate in the same area. But these hopes were quashed by D’Onofrio while speaking to Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast.
He asserted that it was difficult to see Kingpin appearing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day as “it’s a very hard thing to do because of ownership and stuff.” He added, “Right now, I’m only usable for television series, different kinds of series.”
D’Onofrio conveyed that Marvel Studios can’t use his character, Kingpin, in “a one-off Fisk movie or anything like that.” He continued, “It’s all caught up in rights and stuff. I don’t know when that would work out, or if it would ever work out at all, actually, really.”
