What happens in the Rabbit Trap trailer?
The Rabbit Trap trailer sees Dev Patel (Monkey Man, Slumdog Millionaire) and Rosy McEwen (Blue Jean, Apartment 7A) play a young couple, Darcy and Daphne Davenport, who are “freshly decamped from London and taking up residence in an isolated cottage deep in the Welsh countryside in search of creative renewal and acoustic inspiration,” per the official synopsis.
It continues, “When the couple set about exploring their new environs, recording instruments in tow, Darcy stumbles upon a ‘faerie circle’ that emits a strange, unidentifiable frequency; this odd discovery is followed closely by the appearance of an otherworldly child (Jade Croot) who claims to live nearby and is eager to befriend the Davenports. Soon the child becomes a fixture in their household, alternately ingratiating himself and raising suspicions, and exposing unacknowledged rifts and unexamined secrets that threaten to wreak psychological and spiritual havoc in the lives of his makeshift adoptive parents.”
Chainey also wrote the screenplay for the movie in addition to directing. Adrian Politowski, Martin Metz, Alex Ashworth, Sean Marley, Lawrence Inglee, Daniel Noah, Elijah Wood, and Elisa Lleras serve as producers on the movie, while Kyle Stroud, Tom Ogden, Dan Hubbard, Benjamin Kramer, Joseph Cavalier, Stephen Kelliher, Sophie Green, Nadia Khamlichi, Nessa McGill, Sierra Garcia, and Steven Demmler serve as executive producers.
Having premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in January, Rabbit Trap will be released in United States theaters on September 12, 2025.
