Spider-Man 4 Fans Are Tired of Set Leaks as Practical Stunt Goes Viral

Spider-Man: Brand New Day fans are celebrating the return of practical web-swinging after new set videos showed Tom Holland’s stunt double in action across Glasgow, which doubles for New York.

One clip shows the stunt double landing on a moving tank, fueling speculation about a scene involving The Punisher. While the stunts impressed, many fans voiced frustration over the volume of ongoing leaks from the shoot.

Spider-Man 4 fans love practical stunts, but don’t want more leaks

The scene marks one of the few times Marvel Studios has opted for practical web-swinging rather than fully CGI sequences. A similar approach was last seen in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012). Although visual effects will still feature in the film, fans responded to the use of real stunts with enthusiasm.

One fan posted, “I can’t keep tweeting ‘Spider-Man is real’ every 5 minutes but holy s— Spider-Man is real.” Another asked, “That swingy rig is pretty awesome ngl. Anyone know if that’s Holland in suit or a stunt dude?” A third commented, “These stuntmen are just so impressive! They make it look easy.”

Not everyone welcomed the leak. One post read, “I don’t understand why everything has to be released. Closed sets are the way.” Another questioned, “Why is so much being released?” A third remarked, “They’ll leak whole movie with the speed they are going.”

Production resumed recently in Glasgow. Director Destin Daniel Cretton is leading the project, working from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. Cast members include Tom Holland, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Michael Mando, and Liza Colón-Zayas.

The film draws inspiration from the “Brand New Day” comic run, which introduced new villains like Mister Negative and Jackpot and featured Peter Parker regaining a secret identity after a deal with Mephisto. Reports suggest the film may feature Spidey teaming up with The Punisher to face a version of the Hulk.

Marvel Studios will release Spider-Man: Brand New Day in theaters on July 31, 2026.
