Godzilla Minus One 2 Update: Possible Release Date Window Revealed for Sequel
Information about the Godzilla Minus One sequel release date window has come to light in a new report, suggesting we may see the movie sooner rather than later.
When is the Godzilla Minus One sequel release date window?
According to a new report from Bloomberg on what the future holds for the legendary Toho Co., the studio behind Godzilla, Bloomberg notes that Toho is planning on a sequel to the film that could come out “as soon as next year.”
Although Toho didn’t confirm the news, we do know that a sequel to the film has been in the works since last year. Takashi Yamazaki, the director of Godzilla Minus One, is set to return to write and direct the new movie.
Plot details for Yamazaki’s new Godzilla movie remain under wraps at this time. Whether or not any characters from the 2023 movie return for the new film remains to be seen. A release date has not yet been announced.
Godzilla Minus One is currently streaming on Netflix. It stars Yunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando, and Kuranosuke Sasaki.
“In postwar Japan, Godzilla brings new devastation to an already scorched landscape. With no military intervention or government help in sight, the survivors must join together in the face of despair and fight back against an unrelenting horror,” the synopsis for the movie reads.
Yamazaki is also working on his first English-language film, Grandgear, which will be released via Sony Pictures. That movie, which will be produced by J.J. Abrams, also does not have a release date at this time.
