Wonder Woman: James Gunn Denies Diana Prince Casting Rumor
James Gunn has shot down a Wonder Woman casting rumor.
Gunn and Peter Safran’s DCU officially launched in December 2024 with Creature Commandos Season 1. Gunn’s Superman movie is now playing in United States theaters, while Peacemaker Season 2 arrives next month. DCU titles coming in 2026 include Lanterns, Supergirl, and Clayface.
A Wonder Woman movie is also in the works at DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures. There have been no official announcements regarding a director or who may star as Diana Prince; however, one rumor going around on the internet is that DC is “seeking an actress with a TV-centric resume, making to Supergirl’s Milly Alcock.”
What did James Gunn say about the Wonder Woman casting rumor?
On Threads, Gunn said that this rumor was untrue.
“Nope,” he commented. “And I’d never in a million years look for a major role based on whether they did TV, films, or whatever. It’s all about the casting. I didn’t cast Milly because of her past, but because she was the best one for the role (But we’re also not basting WW, nor even discussing it, until a script is finished.”
Variety recently said that the Wonder Woman movie was being “fast-tracked” at Warner Bros. Studios; meaning, it’s expected to come before Superman 2, as the outlet also reported that a “sequel announcement does not appear to be imminent” at this time.”
Gunn also commented about to on Threads, saying, “It’s a priority but I wouldn’t call that fast-tracked. Nothing is going to be shoot unless we’re as sure as we can be that the script is good.”
There’s another Wonder Woman-related project in development at DC Studios: Paradise Lost, which is a television series set on the island of Themyscira before the birth of Diana. The project was initially announced in 2023, and there haven’t been any concrete updates on it in some time.
