Mortal Kombat II Trailer Reveals New Karl Urban Johnny Cage Footage
The first full trailer for Mortal Kombat II has been released.
Mortal Kombat was released in the United States in 2023 by Warner Bros. Pictures. Directed by Simon McQuoid, the movie stars Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Max Huang as Kung Lao, and more.
Mortal Kombat II arrives this coming October. Tan, McNamee, Lawson, Brooks, Lin, and Huang will all reprise their roles in the sequel.

What happens in the Mortal Kombat 2 trailer?
The Mortal Kombat 2 trailer offers footage of Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, a character who was introduced in the original Mortal Kombat game from 1992. Other new cast additions include Adeline Rudolph as Kitana, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn, Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, Ana Thu Nguyen as Queen Sindel, and CJ Bloomfield as Baraka.
McQuoid, whose feature film directorial debut was the first Mortal Kombat, is returning to helm the sequel. This will be the fourth movie in the Mortal Kombat franchise, as prior to the 2021 reboot, there was also the 1995 movie and 1997’s Mortal Kombat Annihilation.
Writer Jeremy Slater recently told ComicBook that Mortal Kombat II has been done “for a while” and that they had been “waiting for the right release date and waiting for the right window.”
He added, “I have been to those test screenings, which are full of Mortal Kombat fans, and watching them react to it the way I reacted to Avengers: Endgame. They were cheering and jumping out of their seats. Every joke is landing, and they are loving it. It’s one of the greatest moments of my life. That’s why you get into this business.”
Mortal Kombat II will be released in United States theaters on October 24, 2025, from Warner Bros. Pictures.
