DCU’s Batman Gets a Surprise Candidate in This WWE Star
While DC Studios has yet to announce the cast for its upcoming Brave and the Bold movie, WWE veteran Randy Orton recently expressed his interest in playing Batman in the new DCU. The movie has yet to receive a release date window, but when it arrives, it will reportedly serve as the debut for the Caped Crusader in the DCU.
Randy Orton wants to play Batman in DCU’s The Brave and the Bold
In a recent social media interaction, WWE star Randy Orton expressed that he would be open to taking on the mantle of Batman in the upcoming Brave and the Bold film.
On July 12, Orton took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his willingness to join James Gunn’s DCU as its Dark Knight. He reposted a question from ScreenTime that read, “Who do you think should play Batman in James Gunn’s DCU?” while adding a waving hand emoji in the caption, indicating that he would be up to the task of playing Bruce Wayne in forthcoming DCU projects.
While fans provided mixed responses to the idea of Orton taking on the role of Batman, his fellow WWE wrestler, Xavier Woods (also known as Austin Creed), replied in an encouraging manner by writing, “I second this.” Woods went as far as to suggest that he would also like to play a fan-favorite DC villain in Gunn’s cinematic universe, noting, “And if you need a riddler then I got you.”
Randy Orton currently has only a few acting credits to his name. In addition to the supporting roles he played in 2011’s That’s What I Am, 2019’s Changeland, and the Shooter series, Orton has led two action films to date — 12 Rounds 2: Reloaded and The Condemned 2.
As of writing, neither James Gunn nor DC Studios has responded to Randy Orton’s post about playing Batman in the DCU.
