Superman’s Rachel Brosnahan Wants Lois Lane to Be Superwoman in Sequel

Director James Gunn recently shared his views on Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane possibly gaining powers and becoming Superwoman in Superman 2. Superman, directed by Gunn and starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, debuted in theaters on July 11. The movie achieved one of the best Rotten Tomatoes scores for a Superman movie upon its release.

Rachel Brosnahan and James Gunn on if Lois Lane could be Superwoman

In a recent interview, the veteran filmmaker revealed his thoughts on whether Lois Lane would become Superwoman in Superman 2.

James Gunn was accompanied by Rachel Brosnahan, David Corenswet, and Nicholas Hoult at a Q&A session with Wired. There, he got the question, “Does Lois Lane ever get powers?” To this, Brosnahan shared, “She becomes Superwoman for a day on her birthday in All-Star Superman.” Apart from All-Star Superman #3 from 2006, Lane also got powers in Action Comics #60 from 1943, and Superman #19 from 2024.

Brosnahan then asked Gunn if he feels “inspired” by the comics and would give powers to Lois Lane in the Superman sequel. He replied he does feel inspired and said, “I think about it every time I see her with powers, I’m like, ‘I know it…. I know it’s Rachel’s.’ She was so happy to be cast as Lois Lane, and another part of her was like, ‘I want to be able to fly.'”

Rachel Brosnahan then addressed the viewers, stating, “Tell James you want a sequel where Lois Lane flies.” To this, James Gunn conveyed that the request will be all he “is gonna hear on Threads” from fans.

Currently, there has been no official announcement regarding Superman 2. While talking to Entertainment Weekly recently, Gunn said, “What I’m working on is in some way…I mean, yes, yes, yes, yes. But is it a straight-up Superman sequel? I would not say necessarily.”
