Nathan Fillion Teases Abundance of Guy Gardner F-Bombs in Lanterns
Nathan Fillion is teasing an abundance of Guy Gardner f-bombs in the DCU Lanterns show.
Lanterns is a new DC Studios show currently in development that will star Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre as John Stewart. Fillion, who makes his DCU debut as Guy Gardner in Superman, will also appear in the series.
What did Nathan Fillion say about Lanterns?
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Fillion said of Lanterns, “Aaron, he’s got a voice like butter. And he’s statuesque, like he’s carved out of marble. He’s very, very specific about his character and what his character’s going through. His character’s clearly going through something. And then along comes this gregarious, smug son of a bitch in Guy Gardner. And in that show…boy, Guy Gardner. I’ve dropped more F-bombs in that project than I have in, I think, my entire career put together.
Fillion also said that, however, there is “a shift” in Guy Gardner by the time the show’s first season ends.
“Guy Gardner is no longer comfortable,” he explained. “He is no longer feeling smug. Then you can see where John’s strength really lies. That is a strong individual. I don’t really have any scenes directly with Hal Jordan, but meeting Kyle, he’s everything you’d hope he would be. Very fun, very nice man, very lighthearted, and fun to be around.”
The official logline for Lanterns reads, “The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
The show is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, all of whom also serve as executive producers. The first two episodes are directed by James Hawes. Lanterns does not have an exact premiere date as of yet, but it is expected to arrive at some point in 2026.
