Sandra Bullock & Nicole Kidman’s Practical Magic 2 Cast Adds GOT & DC Stars

Warner Bros. has officially announced the seven actors, who will be joining the Practical Magic 2 cast for its upcoming sequel to 1998’s cult classic romantic fantasy movie. Two of these said actors are returning stars Oscar winner Dianne Wiest and Oscar nominee Stockard Channing, who will be reuniting with the sequel’s lead stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. Wiest and Channing have signed on to reprise their respective roles as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny from the original.

Practical Magic 2 will be directed by actor-turned-filmmaker Griffin Dunne (An American Werewolf in London) from a screenplay written by original scribe Akiva Goldsman and Georgie Pritchett. It is produced by Kidman, Bullock, and Denise Di Novi. Production will reportedly start in the late summer in London.

Who is joining the Practical Magic 2 cast?

Per Deadline, Bullock and Kidman will also be joined by five new cast members, including Joey King (The Act, The Kissing Booth), Lee Pace (Foundation), Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones), Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai, Blue Beetle), and Solly McLeod (The Dead Don’t Hurt). King has been tapped to play the daughter of Bullock’s Sally Owens, who’s expected to be the one to “discover the dark family secrets and her own dark powers, plunging the family into a crisis.”

“Twenty-five years ago, Sally, Gillian, Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny flew off the pages of Alice Hoffman’s beloved novel and into theaters around the world, and we are thrilled to bring the Owens family back to the big screen with Joey, Lee, Maisie, Solly and Xolo joining the next chapter in our story,” the filmmaking team said in a statement. “The enduring affection for these characters has been our inspiration to deliver the next installment in the Owens’ story to new fans, and those who’ve been with us since the beginning.”

The original Practical Magic movie was directed by Griffe Dunne. It also starred Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing, and Aidan Quinn. In the 1998 movie, Kidman and Bullock portrayed the respective roles of Gillian and Sally Owens, who are sisters that came from a long line of witches. They must team up together to channel their magic to destroy the malicious spirit of Gillian’s abusive boyfriend Jimmy before he truly harms them.
