Superman’s David Corenswet draws DCU and Star Wars comparisons
David Corenswet recently explained how the current DCU compares to Star Wars. The actor and his co-star Rachel Brosnahan sat down for a conversation with Screen Rant, and he shared his love for the Star Wars universe.
Corenswet said, “James has described this new DCU as feeling a little more like the Star Wars universe, in the sense that it’s not our world, it’s an alternate world, and it’s not an origin story. You’re just thrown into the middle of this universe, and you learn about it as you go.”
The actor also explained how adapting John Williams’ iconic Superman music was an important part of the upcoming film as well.
He conveyed, “A huge part of why Star Wars has stuck in my mind for so many years is the music, and John Williams’ other music has been a way that I’ve expanded out to other great films and [been] a reason that I love the other films that he scored. The most surreal thing about being in this film is now I am in a film that has John Williams’ theme underneath it.”
While speaking on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast in 2024, Gunn also spoke about the DCU being more similar to Star Wars. He said, “This is about a connected universe. We’re world-building. We’re not story building.” Gunn added that his main focus is “creating a universe” that allows people to enter and experience it fully. He stated that his universe “is much more like Star Wars than Marvel in that respect.”
