Forgotten Anthony Ramos & Naomi Scott Sci-Fi Movie Released With New Title

Anthony Ramos and Naomi Scott‘s sci-fi adventure movie Distant has received a brand new title, after enduring multiple release delays for the past three years. As of July 3, the long-delayed movie is now available for streaming on Hulu, after nearly a year since it first premiered in Vietnam.

“An asteroid miner crash-lands on an alien planet and must make his way across the harsh terrain while running out of oxygen and being hunting by strange creatures, with the hopes of reuniting with the only other survivor,” reads the synopsis.

Originally titled as Distant, the movie has now been officially called as Long Distance. Prior to its Hulu debut, the sci-fi adventure film didn’t received any promotions from Universal Pictures about its release. The studio was initially going to released the movie in theaters. However, since 2022, its theatical debut kept getting delayed until Universal Pictures ultimately removed the movie from its release schedule in January 2024.

Long Distance was directed and executive produced by Josh Gordon and Will Speck from a screenplay written by Spenser Cohen. The movie originally wrapped its production in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides Ramos and Scott, the cast also included Kristofer Hivju, Zachary Quinto, Izzy Jones, Leon Nurse-Joseph, Milan Walls-Smith, and more.

The movie was produced by Fred Berger, Anna Halberg, and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, with Matthew Hirsch and Jonathan Rothbart serving as executive producers. The creative team also included cinematographer Jeff Cutter, editor Gregory Plotkin, and composer Steven Price.
