Superman’s Lex Luthor Actor Wants This Dream Team up in DCU

As Superman, the first theatrical entry in the DCU, gradually nears its release date, Nicholas Hoult, who portrays the villainous Lex Luthor in the film, has come out to share the DC character that he would like to team up with on the big screen. In a recent interview, Hoult voiced his thoughts regarding the future of his character in the DCU, noting that a potential collaboration with Joker is something he would like to see.

Nicholas Hoult wants Lex Luthor and Joker to team up after Superman

During an interview with his Superman castmates, the Nosferatu star disclosed the DC character he would want most to team up with his version of Lex Luthor, revealing it to be the Joker.

“One of the comics I read in the lead up to this was a link up between Lex and Joker. The combination of those two together was really fun to read, so perhaps if we are lucky and get to keep making movies, that’s something I’d like to see combined there,” Nicholas Hoult remarked to ComicBook.com.

James Gunn has already confirmed the involvement of Batman in the first chapter of his revamped DCU, titled Gods and Monsters, through his stand-alone film, The Brave and the Bold. However, with the DCU still being in its nascent stages, Gunn has yet to recruit actors for characters from the Batman universe, with Tom Rhys as Clayface being one of the few exceptions.

As such, it is presently unclear whether Superman’s arch-nemesis, Lex Luthor, will share the stage with Joker, Batman’s most formidable rival, in Gunn’s cinematic universe. Notably, this proposition was left unexplored when Zack Snyder held the reins of the now-defunct DCEU. In Snyder’s universe, Jared Leto embodied the clown prince of crime while Jesse Eisenberg played the role of Luthor. However, the two characters never interacted with each other in any film, despite featuring in Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
