Superman: David Corenswet Reveals What Henry Cavill Told Him

David Corenswet recently opened up about talking with two previous actors who portrayed Superman, and what advice they gave him for playing the iconic hero.

What advice was Superman’s David Corenswet given?

Speaking to the Irish radio station Beat 102 103, Corenswet revealed that he had reached out to Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin, both of whom have played Superman in the past, about any advice. However, Corenswet said that the actors refrained from providing advice, in classic Superman fashion.

“Both of them, interestingly, sort of said in their own words, ‘I’m not gonna try and give you any tips.’ And I think that’s a very Superman thing. Superman’s not so much for giving advice or dictating how other people should be,” Cowenswet said.

Despite the lack of advice, Corenswet said the duo both did encourage him in his role, and that he’s excited to hopefully meet them both one day.

“They really just conveyed to me an encouragement and a sense of ‘have fun with it’, which I think is Superman’s way of doing it too,” said Corenswet. “They were very encouraging and we had a lovely experience. I’m excited to meet them one day. It’ll be great when we can all get in a room together.”

“Superman, DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures,” the official synopsis reads. “In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.”

Along with David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, Superman stars Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.

Superman is set to premiere in theaters on July 11, 2025.
