Marvel’s Most Powerful Hero Revealed by MCU Director

Eric Pearson recently confirmed a major shift in Marvel’s power hierarchy by naming the MCU’s strongest hero heading into Phase 6. In a new featurette, the Thunderbolts* screenwriter revealed that the character played by Lewis Pullman is now the franchise’s “most powerful superhero,” citing his unstable origins and immense strength as key factors for future storylines.

Eric Pearson says Sentry is Marvel’s strongest hero

In a featurette reported by Gizmodo, screenwriter Eric Pearson confirmed that the character played by Lewis Pullman is now the strongest hero in the Marvel franchise. Pearson explained, “The Sentry is this experiment gone wrong, or gone right accidentally. He unknowingly has become the most powerful superhero.”

Sentry made his debut in Thunderbolts* as Robert “Bob” Reynolds, a former drug addict who took part in Project Sentry. Unlike others in the program, Bob survived and emerged with extraordinary powers but suffered from partial memory loss.

Valentina Allegra de Fontaine finds Bob, equips him with a suit, and names him Sentry. His powers include flight, heat generation, telekinesis, and strength “stronger than all the Avengers combined.”

However, Sentry’s powers are unstable due to his alter ego, the Void-a destructive force that emerges when Sentry loses control. In Thunderbolts*, the Void is unleashed and traps people inside its mind.

Although the Thunderbolts free Bob from the Void’s control, he retains no memory of the events. The film’s post-credits scene reveals Bob is now avoiding using his powers to prevent another Void manifestation.

In the comics, Sentry is also portrayed as both hero and villain, with the Void acting as his dark counterpart. Marvel Studios mirrors this complexity in the film version. The character is set to return in Avengers: Doomsday, alongside the rest of the Thunderbolts team.

Pearson’s confirmation places Sentry above past powerhouses like Thor, Scarlet Witch, G’iah, and Captain Marvel, officially redefining the MCU’s power hierarchy.
