Ne Zha 2’s Box Office Falls Behind Titanic by Barest of Margins

The global box office collection for the animated movie Ne Zha 2 has passed the $2 billion mark. Despite this historic feat, it still falls behind Avatar 2 and Titanic, as these movies retain their spots above it. The movie recently ended its long run at the domestic box office in China. It is directed by Jiaozi, also known as Yu Yang.

How Ne Zha 2’s box office stands against Avengers 4, Titanic, and Avatar movies

According to a report by Ent Group, Ne Zha 2 made history at the global box office as it made approximately $2.215 billion. The movie was released in theaters across China on January 29, 2025, and had a limited release in the United States on February 14, 2025.

While it went on to earn over $2 billion in China, in the United States, Ne Zha 2 has made just over $20 million.

Following its domestic release in China, Ne Zha 2 went on to dominate in theaters and quickly became one of the most successful animated movies of all time. It even surpassed Inside Out 2, which went on to collect over $1.69 billion globally.

However, Ne Zha 2’s box office haul is still beaten by movies like Avatar and Titanic, despite this achievement. The Chinese movie claims the fifth spot in the list of highest-grossing movies of all time. The other four movies ahead of it are Titanic with $2.257 billion, Avatar: The Way of Water with $2.320 billion, Avengers: Endgame with $2.797 billion, and Avatar with $2.923 billion.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Ne Zha 2 has a score of 96 percent on the Tomatometer and 99 percent on the popcornmeter. Just like Ne Zha 2, its predecessor, Ne Zha (2019) was also highly successful in China and took in over $700 million.
